Visa-On-Arrival
VISA-ON-ARRIVAL
The visa-on-arrival is issued for visits with the following purposes:
- Holiday or tourism. Apart from the purpose of holiday and visiting tourist attractions in Indonesia, it is also valid for exploring the possibility for cooperation in developing tourism industry in Indonesia and for handling foreign tourist to Indonesia.
- Social or cultural. This visa is valid for visits that are social, cultural, religious or medical in nature. This includes visiting family/relatives and social organizations, and exchange visits between academic, art, or sports institutions.
- Business. This visa is valid for the purposes of doing business activities in Indonesia, which do not involve taking up employment or acquiring money for payments of services. It is valid for conducting a temporary business assignment, i.e. inspecting company subsidiaries, business negotiations and conferences.
Other types of visit require Indonesian visa.
In conjunction with the new visa policy, the Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Rights has issued and signed a new decree no. M-06.IZ.01.10/2006, effective from 6th of June 2006, Nationals of the following countries can apply for transit (7 days maximum stay) or short visit visa (for a maximum stay of 30 days) upon arrival at the certain Airports/Seaports in Indonesia:

The visa-on-arrival is valid until 30 (thirty) days and non-extendable/non-transferable to other types of immigration permit, such as stay-permit or working-permit in Indonesia. It may only be extended upon approval from the Minister of Justice and Human Rights/Director General of Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia based on natural disaster, illness or accident, but cannot be transferred to another type of visa. Overstay visitors incur to pay a penalty of US$20.- per day/person (for under 60 days stay) whilst over 60 days stay will be a 5 (five) year prison sentence or a fine of IDR 25.000.000 (local currency).
The following fees are applicable for visa-on-arrival and must be paid in US$ cash only:
Required documents which should be submitted are as follow:
- Original Passport, with the validity of 6 (six) months from the date of entry into Indonesia.
- Recent passport-sized color photographs.
- Return flight tickets.
- Hotel reservation and/or invitation letter from sponsor in Indonesia explaining the purpose of the visit.
- Visa fee: US$10 (for transit / visit up to 7 days) and US$25 (for visit up to 30 days).
- Visa can be applied only at the entry and exit points as listed below.
There are 17 (seventeen) Airports and 23 (twenty three) seaports across Indonesia that has the VOA facilities:

- Polonia in Medan, North Sumatra Province;
- Sultan syarif Kasim II in Pekanbaru, Riau Province;
- Tabing in Padang, West Sumatra Province;
- Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta;
- Juanda in Surabaya, East Java Province;
- Ngurah Rai on Bali Island;
- Sam Ratulangi in Manado, North Sulawesi Province;
- Halim Perdana Kusuma in Jakarta;
- Adi Sutjipto in Yogyakarta Special Region;
- Adi Sumarmo in Solo, Central Java Province;
- Selaparang in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara Province;
- Sepinggan in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan Province;
- Hasanuddin in Makassar, South Sulawesi Province;
- Eltari in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province;
- Hang Nadim on Batam, Riau Islands Province;
- Ahmad Yani in Semarang, Central Java Province;
- Husein Sastranegara in Bandung, West Java Province;
Sea ports:
- Sekupang, Batu Ampar, Nongsa, Marina Teluk Senimba and Batam Center on Batam Island;
- Bandar Bintan Telani Lagoi and Bandar Sri Udana Lobam in Tanjung Uban;
- Sri Bintan Pura in Tanjung Pinang;
- Belawan on Belawan Island ;
- Sibolga in North Sumatra Province;
- Yos Sudarso in Dumai, Riau Province;
- Teluk Bayur in Padang, West Sumatra Province;
- Tanjung Priok in Jakarta;
- Padang Bai and Benoa on Bali Island;
- Jayapura in Jayapura, Papua Province;
- Bitung in Bitung, North Sulawesi Province;
- Tanjung Balai Karimun in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands Province;
- Tanjung Mas in Semarang, Central Java Province;
- Tenau in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province;
- Pare-pare in Pare-pare, South Sulawesi Province;
- Soekarno Hatta in Makassar, South Sulawesi Province;
- Maumere in East Nusa Tenggara Province.
Please note that these regulations do not apply for foreigners/expatriates (including members of their family) who are assigned/based in Indonesia. Visa is required and should be applied beforehand. Those whose countries ARE NOT included in the list above or wish to stay longer than 30 days in Indonesia, should apply for their visa in advance, at the Indonesian Embassy.
Attention to Passport Holders from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan
Passport bearers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are required to have visa before arrival in Indonesia. The visa application can be carried out at:
